Approaching the Pender Canal by boat

While the bridge over the Pender Canal links North Pender Island and South Pender Island to vehicle traffic, the canal below is popular with boaters linking Bedwell Harbour with Port Browning. The bridge is quite low so many sailboats cannot make this trip, be sure to check the tides and know the height of your vessel. For motorboats, staying to the centre of the channel is important and pay close attention to the navigational aids.. there are many mud flats and reefs in the area and currents can be strong.
